Hemroid Treatment

Thursday, August 7th, 2008

There are many options when seeking hemroid treatment, we’ll take a look at the most commonly effective ones here.

DIETARY CHANGES

  • It’s important to include extra fiber in your diet and to drink plenty of water every day. This will prevent constipation. Constipation causes strain on your bowel muscles, which will make hemroids worse.
  • There are foods that tend to worsen hemroid symptoms. The most common are nuts, coffee, all alcohols and spicy foods. If you notice another type of food making your hemroids worse, try abstaining for a few days and see if there is a positive effect.

BEHAVIORIAL CHANGES

  • Use ice on the area for 10 minutes, then follow with a warm, moist towel for 20 minutes to provide relief.
  • Don’t wipe or rub after a bowel movement! Instead, use unscented baby wipes to carefully pat down the area.
  • Keep sitting or standing in one place to a minimum. Move around.
  • If you have a particularly bad flare up of the piles, bed rest will take pressure off the sphincter muscles and allow the hemroids to time to subdue.
  • Some find relief by taking a sitz bath several times a day. You just soak the area in warm water for about 15 minutes.
  • If you use soaps or body wash that contain dyes and perfumes, switch to less chemical versions.
  • Cotton undergarments will help absorb any moisture (perhaps from sweating) that can make hemroids worse.

MEDICATIONS

  • Zinc is a skin protectant (it’s found in baby diaper rash cream) that can be applied to both protect the delicate anal skin and to prevent itching.
  • Suppositories, such as Tucks and Preparation H are a hemroid treatment to be taken with extreme caution. They can cause damage to anal tissue with longer term use, and therefor should not be used for more then 7-10 days.
  • At your drugstore you’ll also find hydrocortisone creams. These are anti-inflamitories and can help both inflammation and itching. Your doctor can prescribe a higher concentration if the over the counter strengths don’t provide relief.
  • Most drugstores also offer numbing sprays that will help with the pain.

Unfortunately, these treatments don’t work for everyone. Many still suffer from the itching, burning, bleeding and pain of hemroids after trying traditional treatments. Even if the treatments above cover up symptoms, or temporarily relieve them, you’ll often find the hemroids come back. Rather then masking the symptoms, a true hemroid treatment is available. The ancient Chinese “Fargei” actually cured Holly Hayden’s hemroids in just 48 hours. Her article is a must-read for more information on effective hemroid treatment that works NOW.

What are the symptoms of hemorrhoids?

Friday, November 20th, 2009

And what causes hemroids? And what are the treatments?

hemroids symptoms are:
- Bright red blood covering the stool, on toilet paper, or in the toilet bowl.
- Anal itching
- Painful swelling or hard lump around the anus.

hemroids are internal or external depends if they develop inside the passageway of the anus (internal) or around the anus (external).

Since the skin is more sensitive, the external hemroids are more painful than internal, unless we’re talking about prolapse internal hemroids, where the internal hemroid prolapse (protrude) outside the anus and the pain is severe.

hemroids don’t just disappear by it self and bigger they are more problems they cause, so it is vital to treat them as soon as possible.

It is also important to determine what the cause of hemroids is. The most common cause is constipation. Other reasons are: significant overweight, pregnancy, overeating, acid/alkaline imbalance, vitamin B-6 deficiency, fatigue liver, genetically predisposition. Sitting or standing in one position for long periods of time can also contribute to development of hemroids.

Treatment options are: various creams, pills, medical injection, super freezing, tight rubber band placed around the base of each hemroid, surgery or laser treatment.

Whatever treatment you’ll decide to do, remember to also treat the cause of your hemroids, like take care of your digestion and regular soft bowel in case of constipation (fiber rich diet), if you’re overweight - lose weight, in case of acid/alkaline imbalance pay attention by your food to eat food that through the digestion system is giving you proper acidity. You can buy a home test for acid/alkaline imbalance, if you don’t want to visit your doctor. The vast majority of us are having low alkaline pH, due to improper nutrition.

Unless you’re having constipation (this you can know by yourself), before doing experiments and try to guess what is the cause of your hemroids, go visit your doctor, make all proper test and than decide for the treatment of hemroids including changing of your diet, if necessary.

Other than preparation H what are some good at home treatments for hemorrhoids?

Tucks. Even , Vicks Vaporub is very soothing. A bag of ice. Sitz baths.

For most external hemroids, home treatment is all you need. This includes slowly adding fiber to your meals, drinking more water, and using over-the-counter ointments for a limited time to stop itching. You also may use stool softeners. The same home treatment can be used for most internal hemroids

Healthy habits can help you prevent hemroids or keep them from getting worse. Eat foods that have lots of fiber, such as fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Also, drink plenty of water, and get some exercise on most days of the week.

Can we cure hemorrhoids without applying any treatments of any sorts?

Friday, October 30th, 2009

I mean will it vanish naturally? or is itonce it is there it will be there for ever without any chances of getting it out?

hemroids can and will heal if the strain causing them is removed.

Supplement your diet with extra high fiber foods and/or take a fiber supplement such as Metamucil or Citrucel. Don’t strain when you have a bowel movement - this can make it worse.

If you have a minor hemroid problem, it may heal over the course of a couple weeks. If this is a problem that has been going on for some time, it could take much longer to heal or require medical treatment.

Also, do not use any ointments with hydrocortisone in it, such as Preparation H. After regular and prolonged use, these ointments can weaken the tissue down there so that hemroids are more likely to occur. Ointments with phenylephrine are OK to use regularly.

Take care,

Gurus of Yahoo Answers, Questions about Hemorhoids: Is what I began for home treatment correct?

Sorry for the many questions on hemroids!

So my doc’s appointment got moved back to next week to look at my PROLAPSED hemroid. Till then I am helping my body in the following ways:

- Increase fiber + water intake.
- Avoid going to the john until the "urge" hits. Then I breathe in and out to help avoid straining. I use wipes.
- Adding bioflavoroids (sp?) to diet to strengthen veins.

After starting this home treatment, I notice that when I have "proper" bowel movements (no hard stools, little straining, quick and dirty), I see less blood in the toilet, and less blood when wiping. Also, my hemroid goes back in quicker and easier(shrinking?).

Note: I said "when I have…" I try to have good bowel movements everytime, but occasionally I don’t get enough water, or fiber, etc.

As you may guess, I am not a fan of invasive surgery, hence the home treatment. I research a bit and found that high fiber diets do reduce symptoms, but take a while!

Am I going in the right directions?
P.S I am a college student, so surgery would hinder me a lot, but if it’s the only way, I guess I must.

Also I am sorry if any descriptions gross you out!

Finally, for the medical experts/past experiencers, my hemroid is not painful when it protudes, and when I contract the muscles, it goes back in smoothly. As my diet improves, the amount of blood on my feces decreases.

I believe so many people also use preparation H for pain relief and it also helps with the shrinking of them.

hemorrhoid?

Anybody knows any medicines or cream for treatment of hemroid?? pls help!

Prep. H works well with the patients I have. Here is some other forms of treatment I found on the website:

Having hemroids can be a very embarrassing and painful experience. Being forced to ask advice from a friend or family member, or perhaps even your doctor, can be humiliating. Understand that hemroids are a medical condition, you have no reason to be embarrassed.

Luckily, modern medicine has created several ways to treat hemroids to help alleviate some of the discomfort that hemroids causes. Many of these remedies can be performed from home. If you experience intolerable pain or excessive swelling you may have developed a blood clot in your hemroid and should see a doctor for the treatment suitable for you.

Home Remedies
Avoid using over the counter medications to help with your hemroids. Some of these medications have been known to actually increase the amount of time it takes the hemroid to heal.

Hot Sitz Bath.
A sitz bath (also called a hip bath) is a bath where only your hips and buttocks are immersed in the water. You can use hot water, or a saline solution if you’d like (water should work just fine).

A hot sitz bath is recommended several times per day, and many doctors also recommend it after every bowel movement. The bath should help lessen the pain and swelling from the hemroids. Make sure that you dry yourself very well to avoid any unnecessary friction (which can tear open the hemroid).

Eat Your Salad.
Eating light, green vegetables such as salad can make your stools softer and can help with the pain associated with having a bowel movement. As well, be sure to increase your natural fiber intake to avoid constipation.

Stay Well Hydrated.
Staying hydrated has several benefits aside from being beneficial to your skin and natural body systems. In the case of hemroids it will help your stools stay softer and will help your body replenish any blood lost to bleeding from the hemroids.

Avoid Sitting For Prolonged Periods.
Sitting on the hemroids for prolonged periods of time may agitate it and cause more bleeding and swelling. Sitting on an inflatable ring may help alleviate this problem.

Medical or Surgical Treatments
Though hemroids can usually be treated by a hot sitz bath and some minor dietary changes, if you develop a blood clot or other complications you may need other medical solutions, possibly even surgery.

Thrombosed hemroid.
This is the medical term for “hemroid with a blood clot”, and can be very painful. Luckily, the procedure to rectify the clot can be performed at nearly any emergency room or walk in clinic.

The doctor will simply cut away the clot and fill the wound with an anesthetic. A bandage is then put over top to stop any bleeding.

Prolapsed internal hemroids.
Many times a doctor will be able to reposition the internal hemroids without any type of surgery, allowing you to pass them through. However, if you are very swollen or have some other complication you will probably need surgery.

Failure to consult a doctor may result in the hemroid “dying”. It may seem to be a good thing, but it almost always results in infection. If it becomes infected you may experience extreme pain and become very ill.

In most cases hemroids relief can be taken care of at home following use of the right hemroid treatment. If you experience any amount of unexpected pain or discomfort, or you become very ill, consult your doctor immediately.

Possible Hemorrhoid? How to Treat?

Friday, September 18th, 2009

I have a lump near my anus, which is only slightly raised but quite hard. It is slightly red, and quite painful when pressed…I know it’s there when I am walking around sometimes and when I sit down. It seems to have a very slight dishcarge, which is a white-pink colour. Is this a hemroid? If so what is the best treatment? I have never had anything like this before, I don’t have any problems going to the toilet or anything. If it isn’t a hemroid what could it be? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

I haven’t ever heard that hemroids discharge anything, but that certainly doesn’t mean that they don’t!! I would definitely see the doctor, they can give you something to make it go down a little bit and help with the discomfort. Good luck!!
